Homemade Lemon Ginger Gatorade
I enjoy drinking Gatorade, especially during or after a workout. Unfortunately it's full of sugar! Here's a healthier version that can be made quickly at home.
This Homemade Lemon Ginger Gatorade is full of electrolytes and fresh ingredients like real lemon and lime juices, honey and coconut water.
Ingredients:
1 (4") piece ginger, peeled
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
2 teaspoons honey
1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt
2 3/4 cups coconut water
Directions:
Finely grate ginger and using a flexible spatula, press solids into a fine-mesh sieve over a small bowl and discard pulp. You should have about 1 teaspoon ginger juice.
Combine ginger juice, lemon juice, lime juice, honey and salt in a large measuring cup or bowl. Stir in coconut water.
Mixture should make about 2 servings - serve cold.
Lemon-ginger mixture can be made 1 day ahead. Cover and chill. Stir vigorously before adding coconut water.
