This adorable quokka is hiding something that most folks would be happy to see. When I first saw it, I wasn't sure what to think. Take a moment to think about what it could be. It probably is not what you think it is! Keep reading to find out if you guessed correctly!
The Land Down Under
Australia is known for its large span of wildlife. From exotic parrots to the largest crocodiles in the world, Australia has it all and everything in between. Ten out of ten of the world's deadliest animals live in Australia as well.
Before you are scared off completely from making your next vacation a trip down under, keep in mind that Australia is also home to kangaroos and koalas, two of the cutest animals on the planet. Lesser known, but still native to Australia are the wallabies, a smaller verson of the kangaroo and just as cute. However, this quokka takes the cake for the cutest fur ball Australia can offer.
Happiest Animal In The World
It's about the size of a typical house cat and it always seems to be smiling! The quokka is found on Australia's Rottnest Island, just off the coast of Western Australia. Visitors can see the smiley little quokka and take pictures, but fines are in place for those who decide to pet them. Keep in mind, they are nocturnal creatures, making them very difficult to spot during the day.
The truth is, while the quokka may look cute and smiley, it is a wild animal with very sharp claws. They are best admired from a distance like any other wild animal.
So This Is What's Under There!
The quokka (pronounced kwok-ahh) is a member of the marsupial family. Just like the much bigger kangaroos, quokkas have long feet and a pouch for their young.
That's what you see here!Â
