These adorable mini pies will be very popular at dessert time! Everyone gets to have their personal pie and they can fill it with whatever pie filling they like. Give these a try for dessert this week!
Mason Jar Lid Pies
Materials needed:
1 pie crust
2 mason jar lids
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup pie filling (cherry, blueberry, etc.)
Cinnamon sugar
Wax/parchment paper
Instructions:
1. Roll the pie crust flat and place the lids and outer rims of the mason jar onto the crust so that there are four circles. Cut around each one and you are left with four circles of pie crust.
2. Cut a 'star' into two of the circles by cutting three lines, one vertical and two diagonal.
3. Place the other two pie crust circles inside the mason jar lid to cover the sides completely. Fill one with 1/4 cup cherry pie filling and the other with 1/4 cup blueberry pie filling.
4. Place the two circles with stars on top of the lids to form the top of the two pies. Seal the edges with water. Indent the edges with a fork.
5. Place wax/parchment paper on a baking sheet and then place the pies on it. Brush the tops of each pie with one beaten egg and then sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top.
6. Bake in the oven until the pie crusts are brown and ready to eat. Enjoy!
Once the pies are baked and ready to go, they make a cute serving size for every person in attendance! You can use different pie fillings based on what everyone likes. Dig in!
