Dog Sprayed By Skunk? Use This Easy Trick!
If you’re a dog owner, and your dog loves to roam around outside, this trick will very likely come in handy. Dogs love to play in the yard and spend time outdoors, but with the outdoors often comes the risk of skunks - especially if you’re letting your dog out late at night or early in the morning.
Don’t let skunk spray stink up your home (or your dog!) use this super easy anti-skunk trick if your dog gets sprayed.
This quick treatment is made with ingredients that you’ll likely already have at home and at the cottage. This trick is easy and most importantly, it’s effective. This DIY liquid soap mix is even better than tomato juice or anything you can buy at the store (and not to mention a lot cheaper).
The ingredients in this mixture help to neutralize bad smells. If the smell is really strong, you may need to repeat the wash more than once, but for most cases only once is enough. Your dog will find all its freshness and all your olfactory faculties.
Materials
- 1/4 cup of baking soda
- 32 oz of hydrogen peroxide
- 1 teaspoon of dish soap
Instructions
Mix all ingredients in a bottle and shake to combine.
Apply the solution directly to your dog's coat and massage into the hair.
Soak for 5-10 minutes (or massage for 5 to 10 minutes) before rinsing. Make sure you do not pour on open cuts or wounds and do not let your dog drink the mixture.
You may want to wear surgical gloves or rubber gloves even if the mixture is not harmful to your skin, the smell of skunk can penetrate your epidermis.
